Yoga for Children has evolved over many years.
I began practising yoga at a young age when my mother taught me some poses and balances from the classes she attended. It wasn’t until I began to adapt some of the balances and breathing techniques to simpler forms, which my children found easier to understand, that I realised how much they would benefit from fun yoga. I then qualified as a Radiant Child Yoga teacher, a wonderful yoga programme developed and taught by Shakta Kaur Khalsa, herself, a children’s yoga teacher for over 20 years in America. I began teaching voluntary, for a year, in school P.E. lessons, rainbows and brownies clubs to further develop the classes and to gain valuable teaching experience. I then formed Yoga for Children.
Since developing the Yoga for Children classes I have attended a birthlight aqua yoga course for pregnancy, developed and taught by an inspiring teacher Francoise Barbira Freedman. I am in the process of developing, with birthlight, this beautiful form of yoga into an aqua yoga class for children.
With the support of my family and good friend children’s yoga teacher, Michelle Bowman, we are committed to the continuing development of Yoga for Children.

Yoga for Children classes have now been taught in schools, after school clubs and health clubs for over two year’s. All our teachers are qualified through Yoga for Children to teach children from age 3 to 16. The classes follow a set programme developed by Yoga for Children to obtain maximum enjoyment and benefit for the children. The children we teach find the classes immensely enjoyable and are a constant inspiration to us.

In the future we hope our team of yoga teachers will be able to take the gift of yoga to children across the UK.

Namaste.
